ZooZoo the squeaky, scrawny creatures are the ones some of us look forward to more than the IPI. A creation of Ogilvy & Mather, Nirvana Films and Platypus production house, they are humans in body suits. The ZooZoo's are Cape Town theatre actors behind the most memorable ads ever.

Zoozoo characters doesn't need an Introduction they are new Rock stars in the advt media.Since a month ago i thought zoozoo is a product of animation but when I read an article about the Vodafone advt in news paper by Shraddha Singh,I was suprised to know they were real human beings in a white body suite. Explaining the idea behind the campaign, Rajiv Rao, Executive Creative Director, O&M says,
“We created a special world in which all the product stories get told. A world which is real yet different, strange yet simple, warm and lovable. All the specific product stories and services get told in this world of Zoozoos, making the messages more charming.”
One of the most interesting facts about this campaign is that even though the ZooZoo characters look animated, they have been played by real people dressed in a white attire, reveals director Prakash Varma of Nirvana films,he says,
“Animation requires so much detailing and here we had to do the exact opposite. We had to make real characters look like animated characters. It was quite challenging as none of them could see as they were covered from head to feet. The set, including all the props, is in the form of shadows created by spray painting.”

Images from a studio in South Africa where the Zoozoo TV ads for Vodafone were shot by O&M. All the Zoozoo characters are wearing an egg-shaped white mask and hence can’t see what’s in front of them. They were mostly kids along with a few adults.
They are soon going to replace the Emoticons we use in our Chat programs!
